With the recent news of the Nintendo street team voting polls, Empire Arcadia's TFGM (Triforce) lead the nation with 23% unfortunately, he wasn't selected for the job to team up with Nintendo to help represent the Empire State with promotion of videogames by Nintendo. Admits this bad news, this still did not stop Triforce and Empire Arcadia from gearing up and meeting Nintendo's street team and helping to spread gaming fun throughout the community of New York City for the entire summer. Nintendo Street Team and Empire Arcadia paired up and helped show a good time to a lot of people in New York City as Nintendo toured, the South Sea Port at Pier 17, down by Fulton Street.
As Empire Arrived at the scene they spotted Nintendo's custom Pathfinder with Nintendo all over it. The representatives, transformed the vehicle into a Nintendo GameCube station, hosting games such as Super Smash Brothers Melee, Soul Calibur 2, Viewtiful Joe, 1080, and Mario Kart double dash. Spectators throughout the entire sea port poured in to get a glimpse of what was going on. Once curious, Nintendo and Empire Arcadia, struck out downloading them with tons of info about the street team, Nintendo's videogame products and accessories. Both Nintendo and Empire Arcadia showed gamers what games are out and how fun they could be, as the continued to help educate the people on the videogames. For simply picking up a controller, participants were rewarded with Nintendo brand T-shirts, pin buttons, and visor caps.
Lead by Kyle, Troy, and Empire Arcadia's Leader TFGM, Nintendo and Empire Arcadia formed the TRIFORCE TEAM, and gave one of the best opening promotions for the street team. As spectators and participants asked questions, both Nintendo and Empire Arcadia was more than willing to provide them with the answers that they needed to give them a better understanding of the Nintendo videogame community. To show, that the community is diverse and Nintendo caters to all ages, participants as young as toddlers, to teens, to the elderly all got involved and picked up a controller.
As the morning tour came to a close, and the day pretty much seemed like it was over, both Nintendo and Empire Arcadia was just getting started, as they both felt that more can be done, and that their job of spreading videogame madness throughout the city for the day wasn't complete. Next stop. Neutral Grounds! Nintendo and Empire Arcadia hit the streets literately, randomly promoting to anyone that even seemed remotely interested in videogames. Only a few feet from leaving the sea port the teams stopped off by a two young ladies playing there own Game Boy Advance and they decided to get in on the action. Sharing what games they had to play they briefly exchanged advices, on the best games to get and play for the Game Boy Advance. Then it was up and onward.
Both teams walked the Streets of lower Manhattan as they reach Ground Zero and decided to take the A train uptown to Neutral Grounds. Upon boarding New York City subway, one of the street team members decided, to show that Tony Hawks grinding really can be done anywhere as he grinded on a subway seat. As the train started to motion forward to the their destination, passengers that boarded the train were quickly in for a surprise as they were greeted with videogames to enjoy on the subway free. The melee was so contagious that the entire train cart started to play videogames.
Arriving at 23rd street both teams hit the streets again and approached one of the premier playing grounds of Empire Arcadia; Neutral Grounds. As they were eager to all get upstairs they were instantly surprise to see gamers playing everything from card games, to videogames. They also saw other members of Empire Arcadia having a casual run at a couple of racing games. Although Empire Arcadia was suppose to be running a tournament, turned out to be an all out gaming invitational. This was for the best, as Nintendo then decided to have a team tournament. Nintendo vs. Empire Arcadia. What made this interesting, was that the regular locals of Neutral Ground wanted in on this event as well and formed a Neutral Grounds team. It then became a three way battle.
As teams were formed, Each Unit had two teams within them. Team A and Team B. Nintendo, Empire Arcadia and Neutral Grounds went at it playing games from Soul Calibur 2, to Mario Kart double dash, to Pokmeon Puzzle League, and then in the Finals, the two teams with the highest points competed in a team battle of Super Smash Brothers Melee. In the end it came down to Empire Arcadia's Team A, and Nintendo's Team A. Both entering the finals with perfect wins. As all 4 players competed in a team Melee battle and when the dust settled, Empire Arcadia came out on top. When it ended, all the players shook hands and showed great sportsmanship and to let everyone know that it was more important of the gathering and the social playing that makes all the gamers come together and not about winning. Both teams took a group picture, by both leaders of the team, and swapped.
Empire Arcadia looks forward to helping Nintendo's street team to do more events like this to further service the community of gamers and help develop more fun activities for the community over all. More reports on Nintendo and Empire Arcadia throughout the summer stayed tuned.
