Valkyries Gear up at Nintendo World April 17th, 2007

Nintendo World Store hosts it's 2nd Annual Fashion Show.

Spring has come but won’t be here for very long. Summer is right around the corner and as the videogames start to heat up so will the weather. When that happens the fashion for gamers will have to be just as hot. Keeping a watchful eye over the gamer culture and what is going on in gamer community; Empire Arcadia attended Nintendo World Store second (2nd) annual fashion show. The Valkyries of Arcadia wanted to be the judge of some of the gamer clothing that was on display personally to check for the quality and taste of the apparel.

They wasted no time looking around and taking pictures of some of the game wear that Nintendo had on hand for people to buy. This was VOA Queen of Hearts and Legaia first full event that they covered. Empress Valkyrie Wyldflower attended as well to supervise and have fun with the girls.

Utilizing a large portion of the 2nd floor for their game apparel Nintendo has put forth a lot of effort to bring fashion for gamers to the table. As the Valkyries looked around they found a lot of articles of clothing other than just T-shirts.

A lot of gamers clothing throughout the last 2 decades have been based on just T-shirts and occasional rare polo shirts and hooded wear. To their surprise Nintendo has taken a step forward by producing cap and hats, sweaters, track jackets, sleep wear, underwear, fleeces and vests.

This just goes to show that culture of gaming is not just about playing games. A great portion of society has yet to accept the depth of the gamer culture and the gaming society over all. However each passing year industry leaders create new markets and innovate products, services and activities that chip away at the old traditions to usher in the new era and culture of gaming. Empire Arcadia Inc. has been there as gamers from virtually the beginning and will be there to the end to bring this information to the masses.

To add to the event other than just shopping, Nintendo World allowed gamers to draw on blank grey T-shirts to give them an opportunity to express their artistic taste and blend it in with their fashion taste.

The line produce more than 100 people in the time span of 3 hours. Gamers drew their favorite characters such as Link, Mario, Pokemon characters and other game related entities. The Valkyries wasted no time drawing out their favorite characters.

After they were done drawing; the fashion show was announced to start in a half an hour. This was just enough time for the Valkyries to get involved with the gamers on the line that were waiting to draw on their T-shirts. A lot of the gamers stated that they enjoy events such as what Nintendo World was holding. The Valkyries asked one of the attendees why they like the event and they told them that the event was not only different but the event gives a lot of gamers who are not as good in videogames like most professional something to do and a way for gamers to explore other talents that they may have known. The continuing evolution of the gamer culture and the explosion of the Greater Gamer Community is adding new layers of constructive and positive elements to society at large.

The Valkyries looked around the store for a couple more minutes before the start of the Fashion show. Just before it started they found some cute puffy plush dolls of Nintendo Characters. From Mario to Toad to Yoshi the Valkyries played around and took a picture before the event started.

VOA Legaia noticed something at the accessory section of the apparel floor. Nintnedo even have from bags to pins, wristbands and other accessories that matched with the clothing that gamers selected to wear. To anyone with a fashion sense you'd know that coordination is very important in completing the “Fresh” or “Sexy” look that the person who is wearing the clothing wants. Like any fashion line some things won’t match but that won’t stop many gamers from mix and matching some of things that are available to them.

AOL attending the event to cover it and took various picture of gamers. The Valkyries were one of them. Coverage of events like this by media is good because it informs its viewers of the many new things that the gaming culture releases to the public.

To gamers this may not be any news as we’ve been gaming for over 2 decades but the fact that a new demographic of users who play videogames that are usually causal are getting whiff of this; it can be a culture shock to them. So the dissemination of our culture’s information is vital to the world finally “realizing” that videogames are more than the stereotypes that people bracket it in.
