| Inhumanity and violence at Virginia Tech being blamed on Videogames. |
| |
“April 16, 2007 — A tranquil college campus in Virginia became a killing field Monday morning. At least 33 people are dead in the worst mass shooting in modern American history.”
- ABC news
The real matter at hand.
Today marks a sad day in American history and yet another tragic event in humanity as 30 plus students of a college campus in Virginia was gunned down by a warped inhuman individual. What is worst is how people react to such events. It usually takes the death of many innocent people before a solution or acts towards a solution is even taken into consideration.
Then we go from bad to worst as the politicians who we elect to govern us and protect us from random acts of evil both foreign and domestic choose to blame grand societal travesties such as this on an inanimate object. Videogames have been for far to long the scapegoat to a modern age world problem for political gain rather than doing their job to solve such tragic problems in our country nevertheless the world at large.

Why is there so much inhumane violence in our schools? No the real reason, not videogames. It has been stressed for years; day in and day out, that long before such violence in videogames even were thought of; violence on TV, movies and even in our own government with wars and such has influenced weaker minds in committing such barbaric acts of uncivilized behavior. So why do some government officials blame videogames? The answer is...”who cares!”
While we sit here and ask time consuming questions such as that, lives are being lost. The real matter at hand is that the “REAL POLITICIAN’S” need to step up and use that tax money that people in this country (Yes that includes us Gamers) give to create agencies that handle these tragic and violent matters in our schools; responsibly and professionally. Politicians like Jack Thompson are a distraction to these real vital issues. We need to move past those distractions and come up with a solution quick! Lives are being lost and this is not a videogame they don’t come back!
Who should take responsibility?
Everyone and no one! Families, Mothers & Fathers, Schools, Securities, Government, Media and even the game industry. This is a societal problem not one that you can place blame to a billion dollar industry in which certain government agencies look to clamp down on to control for political gain and profit. We all have a responsibility for the lives lost. As human beings we need to contribute and fight this violence with a solution. Every bit counts. Awareness, education, understanding and law all take into account as to what can be done to help cure this disease in humankind. For far to long gamers have stood by silently and said or have not done enough to help in this societal matter. |

Emperor’s Declare
“It’s ridiculous how our so called leaders who are suppose to be adults handle matters like this. If that is the case, you might as well have today’s children run this country. I’m tired of the complaining and displacing of blame to tragic stuff like this. Since they will do nothing about it then I guess us gamers will have to. If need be we’ll gather the largest force of gamers on the planet to protest against random violence in schools and in the world period. I wonder at times who is worst the psycho’s doing this crazy stuff or the politicians that want to place blame on a videogame. Disgusting! You politicians want to take on gamers we’ll show you how to play this game.”
