Empire Arcadia divides to cover VGA, GGL and WCG.

The Empire Extends out West
Empire Arcadia travelled out West to expand its presence Nation wide. TriForce and Justin Wong visited the State of California to attend the Spike TV 2009 Video Game Awards while Red attended GGL's Tekken 6 Xbox 360 National tournament. As the Emperor of Arcadia and his greatest Knight touched down in L.A. the two decided to get adjusted for a very busy weekend.
BarFights 3
TriForce and Justin's first stop in LA was at Gooteck's BarFight 3 event; held at Hooters.VOA StarSlay3r, Mike Ross, Alex Valle and more were all at the event competing and spectating. After several hours of competition the tournament came down to Alex Valle vs. Ken I in the Grand finals. Alex Valle stuck to his guns with Ryu and Ken I has changed his main character use from Akuma to Rufus. The battle did not end quickly as the competition went to the final set before Alex Valle pulled away for the victory. The G - Force
The following morning Justin and TriForce met up with the Empire's newest sponsor "Gunnar Optiks" to complete a photo shoot before the Spike TV 2009 Video Game Awards. StarSlay3r and Mike Ross met up with the two at the photo shoot location. TriForce, Justin and StarSlay3r then took some real good shots for Gunnar's "G - Force" team before packing up and heading out to the VGA's Red Carpet event.
The Spike TV VGA Red Carpet Event
When the Empire arrived at the Red Carpet pre-event to the VGA, the press gathered behind a huge fence that separated them only inches away from the red carpet. Hollywood stars from all over the Nation walked the carpet giving the press a chance to take photo's and on the spot interviews. TriForce and Justin walked the red carpet to absorb all the glamour of Hollywood until they saw Seth Killian at the Capcom Game Stage. Justin and TriForce played a couple of games and hung out with Seth before returning to the Gunnar booth.
Hollywood Stars from the Jersey Shore cast, Mike Tyson, Samuel Jackson, Mark Hamill, Zachary Quinto and more all parade the red carpet for about 2 hours before heading into the auditorium for the actual show. When the show started the confused Jack Black burst onto the stage thinking that he won the game of the year award. When he finally realized that it was the wrong award that he won he broke the podium that he made his speech on along with the trophy he had won.
The show continued with various awards being given out by stars such as Snoop Dog, Tony Hawk, Stevie Wonder and more. Street Fighter 4 won fighting game of the year award in a pre-recorded showing and Uncharted upset Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the Game of the Year Award. |
Although the award show was a success there were issues that concerned TriForce about the growth, prestige and integrity of the show. TriForce is concerned that much like the Academy Awards, actors who are apart of that industry of entertainment hand out the awards. At worst they are supported by outside talent in that right. For the VGA's, professional or celebrity gamers such as Fatal1ty, Tsquared, Walshy and more are not given that obligated privilege. Leaving the question, Why?
"I don't understand why gamers are not giving out some of these awards. Someone like Justin Wong should be giving out the Fighting Game of the year award or Team Fear for best shooter. This would add a great level of integrity to help further legitimize the VGA's. This year actually improved but they still have a long way to go. Perhaps we'll have better luck next year as gamers." - TriForce
Up north California in "San Francisco", Red was competing in the GGL Xbox 360 Tekken 6 tournament. Red managed to win the Xbox competition but lost against the PS3 champion in a Champion of Champions match. Afterwards both players advanced to the top 16 of the Namco Tekken 6 National tournament where Chetchetty came out victorious and was crowned the official Namco Tekken 6 Nationals Champion.

Dissension in the Empire back East
Back in the Empire State, things didn't fair to well for the Empire. WCG hosted its Holiday Heroes Street Fighter 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 tournaments. The Empire was not prepared for the Call of Duty tournament as their headsets were not compatible with the WCG ruling. This rendered them deaf during battle, giving their opponents all the advantage they needed to hand the Empire its first COD: MW2 tournament lost. The EMP Gun Knights team went 0 - 2.
On the Street Fighter 4 front, the Empire was bested by former Empire Arcadia teammate for the Street Fighter 4 Empire Team, (iloveu Joe). Joe climbed the ranks defeating two of the Empire's best SF4 players, Sanford Kelly and Arturo Sanchez. Joe stood a top a mountain of Arcadian's during the Emperor's and Royal Knight's leave. Ironically Raw Game Play held a pre finals interview with the 3 Players (Interview). Even in defeat the Empire still took top 8 positions, 2 through 8. Arturo held 2nd place and Kevin "DieMinion" Landon took 3rd, salvaging the integrity of the Empire during TriForce and Justin Wong's leave. Full Tournament Results. |
