| BattleField Arcadia: The First Arcadian Family |
January 17st, 2009 |
| VOA Belle and EMP Homicide gave birth to the 1st legitimate Arcadian. |
| |
As the Empire enters a new decade so is born it's first legitimate Arcadian. The Empire's first born daughter "Kyrie". We welcome her with open arms as she is the youngest gamer of Arcadia.
"I am proud to know that the Knights and Valkyries of Empire Arcadia have shown that gamers are constructive people in society. In the Empire, gaming is a culture not an activity and it gives me deep emotional warmth to know that Bella and Homicide shared this culture together and have now produced a family from it. I give their family my etneral blessings." - Emperor TriForce GameMaster
We interviewed the parents of Kyrie to get some information about her and what her future holds for not just Kyrie but her family as well. (Interview created by VOA Nightmare)
Full name: Kyrie Elyse
Born: December 13th 2009 @ 11:08 p.m.
Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz
Length: 21 inches
Arcadian Rank: Royal Valkyrie
Q. How does it feel to have the first legitimate Arcadian child in the
Empire over TriForce?
A. It feels neat to have the first Arcadian child. We feel pretty honored.
Q. How did you come up with such a unique name?
A. (Both parents laugh) Well we actually thought it would be neat and very unique to name her Valkyrie Elyse and called her Kyrie for short. The name Valkyrie has so much meaning and power behind it. Due to the fact that the movie Valkyrie had just came out and we didn't want people to name associate with the movie we didn't go full on with Valkyrie we just stuck with Kyrie.

Q. Do you both plan on making her a gamer?
A. We def plan on making her a gamer. The Industries have made all of those cool learning games like Leap Frog and other games that are excellent for educating children. Those will probably be her first video games to also include the Nintendo Wii.
Q. How did you two meet?
A. We met while in-processing our first duty station in the Army. We started dating in Nov 2002, we were married by March of 2003. We were married 2 days before Bella left to go to Iraq. Homicide is currently still serving.
Q. Do you use gaming to socialize between each other?
A. We use gaming as a way to spend time with each other if we just want to relax around the house. I guess in way we do use it to socialize. We work in an Army Gaming Center so it is a part of our daily jobs and how we socialize with the public also.
Q. What got both of you so involved in gaming?
A. Bella- My dad bought me my first NES at age 5. I have been playing video games since then. I started playing on a pro level when Homicide got me into Halo 2. I then joined the Empire and started attending gaming events and this sparked my interest |
into competing. I attended my first MLG in 06 and started competing for the game Gears of War in 07. I have taken a break since then due to the pregnancy and having Kyrie.
Homicide- I also started gaming at age 5. I have only played in a few local events, I hope to eventually start competing at some of the bigger gaming events such as MLG and WCG.
Q. Being a part of the Army would you let Kyrie sign up if she
wanted to support her country?
A. If Kyrie wanted to serve her country we would fully support her. We would support her in any decision she makes about her future as long as it is reasonable. With Homicide being in the Army though he is planning on signing over his G.I. Bill to her so she has a good size amount of college money already waiting for her when she is ready.
Q. What if Kyrie starts playing online and meets someone she likes? How
would you handle this?
A. We would proceed with caution. It would depend on her age at the time of this meeting. We would def want to meet this person first before she would be able to go anywhere with them. I am sure Homicide will be sitting at the table cleaning one of his weapons when any boy comes to pick up his little girl. (Bella Laughs)
Q. Do you think the image of a girl gamer will ever change? If not how
will you in-stow this on Kyrie?
A. I think that the image of girl gamer will change one day. Hopefully for the better, Maybe we won't just be labeled as girl gamers and as equals to the opposite sex. I don't want Kyrie to think of herself as a GIRL gamer, I want her to just think of herself as a gamer. She needs to think of herself equal to the boys to be just as great a gamer.
Q. Now that you've become parents and a new set of responsibilities are
now on your hands, will you both retire as professional gamers and revert
to casual gamers?
A. We think until she becomes a little bit bigger and there isn't all these long days of caring for her every min we will be gaming casually. As she gets bigger it will be easier to take her places and get back into that pro gaming aspect again.
